Job Overview
Job Title: Part-Time Database Administrator (DBA)
Location and Residency Status: Remote
Time Commitment Expectation: 10-15 Hours Weekly
We are seeking an experienced Part-Time DBA to support and maintain our SQL Server, ColdFusion, IIS, and Sunapsis environments. This role requires strong hands-on experience across the full application stack—front end, application server, and database—combined with disciplined execution of monthly release cycles, patching, environment refreshes, and SFTP configurations. You will work closely with internal IT teams, and the functional team, to support testing and ensure smooth operational continuity.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Execute SQL Server scripts, commands, and administrative tasks.
- Apply Microsoft SQL Server patches and manage system updates.
- Support alternating monthly Sunapsis releases, including:
– Applying database scripts
– Updating ColdFusion release files
– Deploying updates to IIS application servers - Manage ColdFusion front-end and ColdFusion-on-Tomcat environments.
- Administer and navigate IIS, including deployments, resets, and configurations.
- Configure and maintain SFTP connections, including secure transfers to SEVIS systems.
- Perform quarterly environment refreshes and coordinate cloning of DEV and Pre-PROD.
- Manage backups and ensure recoverability using Rubrik.
- Ensure annual Windows Server certification and SEVIS site certification requirements.
- Support functional testing cycles and provide assistance during validation windows.
Experience building UI/UX using Reactjs, and other technologies
Educational Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, a related field, or relevant experience
- 3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, scripting, patching, and maintenance.
- Hands-on knowledge of ColdFusion, including ColdFusion deployed on Tomcat.
- Strong familiarity with IIS administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience setting up and managing SFTP environments, performance tuning and query optimization
- Ability to execute structured release cycles, patching schedules, and environment updates.
- Experience with system backups and recovery tools (Rubrik or similar).
- Familiarity with multi-environment architecture (DEV, Pre-PROD, PROD).
- Ability to support cross-functional testing teams and adapt to scheduled release windows.
